FAQs

  • Counselling or therapy works best when you attend regularly. If you have the capacity to attend, weekly appointments are ideal. Otherwise, every fortnight is a flexible option.

  • Initial and by request longer appointments are often 80 minutes in length.

Standard sessions are 50 minutes in length.

There is often preparation and administration that is also work that your therapist will do for you that is included without charge beyond the session time.

Having longer sessions are not always more effective. Trying to achieve too much in one session can be overwhelming when you are also trying to implement change outside of the therapy room.

  • Standard session - $195
    Extended session - $270

We recommend including this in your weekly or fortnightly budget plan to ensure you are able to commit to the investment in you!

  • This is led by you! The length of time you engage in therapy will be driven by your needs, desires and capacity. Therapy is an investment of your time, energy and financial resources. Our hope is that you will see this investment in yourself show up tenfold in your life.

As a guide, we do recommend that if you are giving a therapy a go, you commit to at least 3 months of regular appointments to have the opportunity for the therapeutic process to start to have an impact.

  • The Dawn understands that sometimes things may occur which are outside of your control and you will not be able to attend your appointment.

We ask that you provide a minimum of 48 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. This is so we can offer the time to another client.

Less than 48 hours notice of cancellation will incur 50% of the full fee.

Less than 24 hours notice of cancellation will incur the full fee.

Where you may be too unwell to attend an in person appointment, but well enough to engage in a virtual appointment - that can be made available to you.

  • If you decide you have met your goals for therapy, or you would like to discontinue therapy, you may do so at any time.

To have your file closed with us, you can advise in writing via email.

  • You do not require a GP referral. Self or referrals from other services are welcome. A GP referral will be required if you wish to access a Mental Health Care Plan.

  • Yes, Medicare rebates are available to those who have been referred by a GP with a Mental Health Care Plan.

Medicare rebates are available for up to 10 individual sessions and 10 group sessions per calendar year (January-December). The Dawn also recommends you ask your GP to include in your referral that you are approved for both individual and group therapy.

Please note, you are unable to access the rebate on cancelled or no show appointments. There are conditions on eligibility for claiming rebates on group therapy sessions.

  • At this time this is not something we offer.

We will look into this in the future if the interest and demand is there from our clients.
